Newcastle hero Clark: Bobby leaving for Liverpool

Bobby Clark, the son of former Newcastle captain Lee Clark, claims he has no regrets about switching to Liverpool from his home club. Two years ago, Bobby Clark joined the Reds academy after leaving Newcastle.

How come Liverpool? Well, after visiting with other teams, Bobby decided that was the ideal spot for him, Lee explains to the Liverpool Echo.

"I was actually coaching abroad at the time while working away, and I was in contact with Bobby. He held discussions with the four or five clubs that had concurred with Newcastle after making the decision to quit.

But he was simply astounded by how much Liverpool knew about him, how thoroughly they were familiar with him, and their position that they weren't signing him to assist them in winning the FA Youth Cup.

"Bobby is well-versed in history; he loves football and is aware of Liverpool Football Club's heritage and core values.

Additionally, he has known Terry McDermott since he was a little child and was familiar with what Liverpool represents.

Liverpool could not have provided for him any better. He was placed with a loving family in the Merseyside region, and now he lives independently.

Bobby made a great decision, and we are pleased with how things have turned out. Even more quickly than we anticipated, he has made improvement.

"A lot of people don't believe me, but I never changed Bobby's mind about going to a particular club.
